Itinerary
Arrival at Athens International Airport. Your transfer escort will be waiting in the arrivals hall holding a placard with your names for your transfer to your hotel. Afternoon will be free for leisure.
Later pick up in the evening for the Athens Night Tour. Your evening begins with a short panoramic drive through the city center and on the slopes of the sacred hill you will be able to see, admire and take photos of the illuminated Acropolis.
Then a pleasant walk through the narrow picturesque streets of Plaka, the old city, will bring you at a Typical Greek Tavern where you will enjoy your dinner following a floor show with live music and Greek Folk Dances in traditional costumes. Return to hotel after the tour.
Overnight in Athens
After breakfast, meet in the hotel lobby for your Half Day City Tour of Athens. This is a group tour conducted by coach and a licensed guide. With a recorded history of 3,000 years, Athens is the capital of Greece and among the most interesting places in the world.
The tour gives you the opportunity to observe the striking contrasts that make Athens such a fascinating city. Continue and pass by the Temple of Olympian Zeus, the Hadrian’s Arch, the Parliament and the Monument of the Unknown Soldier, the Academy, the University, the National Library, the Constitution Square (Syntagma).
At the Acropolis you will visit the architectural masterpieces of the Golden Age of Athens: The Propylaea, the Temple of Athena Nike, the Erechtheion and finally “the harmony between material and spirit”, the monument that “puts order in the mind”, the Parthenon.
Continue and visit a must-see in Athens, the place where finally the statues found their home and admire the wonders of the classical era: The New Acropolis Museum, voted by the Sunday Times as the 3rd best museum of the world.
Overnight in Athens.
After breakfast, meet in the lobby for your 4 Day Classical tour of Greece including the Meteora Monasteries. This is a group tour conducted by coach and a licensed guide.
Leave by the coastal road to the Corinth Canal. Drive on and visit the Theatre of Epidaurus. Epidaurus is one of the most popular archaeological sites in Greece. Located on the north eastern side of Peloponnese, in the region of Argolis, Epidaurus Greece is mostly famous for its Ancient Theatre.
This theatre was constructed in the late 4th century BC to host religious ceremonial events in honor of god Asclepius, whose healing centre was located a few steps away. Famous for its symmetry and the incredible acoustics, this classical theatre is surrounded by lush greenery and gives nice view to the valley below.
In summer, it hosts performances of ancient Greek drama. Then proceed to the town of Nafplio (short photo stop), drive on to Mycenae and visit the Archaeological Site and the Tomb of Agamemnon. Then depart for Olympia through Central Peloponnese and the towns of Tripolis and Megalopolis.
Later enjoy your dinner and overnight in Olympia.
After breakfast, visit the Archaeological Site with the Sanctuary of Olympian Zeus, the ancient Stadium, the spot where the torch of the modern Olympic Games is lit and the Archaeological Museum.
Then drive on through the plains of Ilia and Achaia until the magnificent bridge that crosses the Corinthian Bay from Rion to Antirion. Pass by the picturesque towns of Nafpactos (Lepanto) & Itea. Arrive in Delphi and enjoy your dinner.
Overnight in Delphi.
Breakfast at the hotel. In the morning visit the Archaeological Site and the Museum of Delphi. One of the most interesting archaeological sites in Greece, Delphi is located on the slopes of Mount Parnassus in central Greece.
Delphi Greece was the most important oracle in the ancient Greek world and pilgrims from all over the Mediterranean would come to ask for the prophecy of god Apollo. Delphi is the naval of the Earth, meaning the central point of our planet. Along time, it became also the base of a political and military association, apart from a religious sanctuary.
Modern Delphi village is easily one of the most picturesque villages or rural retreats of Greece. The landscape is dramatic and filled with green vegetation. Later depart for Kalambaka a small town located at the foot of the astonishing complex of Meteora’s gigantic rocks.
Dinner and overnight in Kalambaka
After breakfast, depart for Meteora, it is among the most impressive regions in Greece, with huge rocks in the middle of a valley.
Located on the northern side of the country, the rocks of Meteora Greece are actually miracles of nature. Studies suggest that these rocks were formed 60 million years ago, when weathering and earthquakes gave them their present shape.
On top of these impressive pinnacles, many monasteries were constructed in the Byzantine times, it is impressive how these monasteries were actually constructed many centuries ago on top of so abrupt cliffs. Although today only six of these monasteries operate, they form the second largest monastic community in Greece, after Mount Athos.
The view from the top of the rocks to the valley below is just breathtaking. Later return to Athens via Trikala, Lamia, Thermopylae (short stop to see across the road the Leonida’s Monument). Arrive in Athens early in the evening.
